The Toe-Clamps are intentionally out of square by 3 degrees, which has the “toe” of the clamp meet the surface of the material first, when clamped, a “spring” effect is created, pulling the work towards the spoilboard. The Toe-Clamp is printed at an angle, so that the layer lines of the clamp oppose this force.
The Low-Profile Flattening Clamps feature a slotted 1008 steel knife that is capable of being sharpened by the user with a simple orbital, a back bevel is all it takes for more clamping effort! The knife is produced in N.C. by LaserBros. and is drafted at an angle to reduce the potential contact area with a spinning bit. Once the clamp is secured to the spoilboard, the knife is advanced into the work with a 1/4-20 machine screw.
